About the role:
As a Performance Engineer Lead at myPOS, you will shape and drive our performance engineering strategy, ensuring the scalability, reliability, and speed of our systems. Leading a team of performance engineers, you’ll define testing practices, resolve system bottlenecks, and partner with cross-functional teams to optimize applications and infrastructure. With expertise in performance tools, distributed systems, and monitoring solutions, you’ll provide actionable insights to leadership and foster a culture of technical excellence. This is a high-impact role where your leadership will directly influence the seamless payment experiences we deliver to hundreds of thousands of merchants across Europe.
What you’ll do:
- Own and define the performance engineering strategy across platforms and teams.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of performance engineers, setting standards and driving technical excellence.
- Oversee the design and execution of performance testing strategies (load, stress, scalability, endurance).
- Partner cross-functionally with Development, Architecture, and IT to resolve performance issues and optimize systems.
- Champion the use of automation frameworks and monitoring tools for proactive performance management.
- Provide actionable insights and KPIs to leadership through reporting and analytics.
This role is perfect for you if you have:
- 7+ years of experience in performance and automation testing, with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior role.
- Proven track record with tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, or similar (JMeter expertise highly valued).
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native setups (GCP, AWS, Azure).
- Hands-on experience with APM and monitoring tools (Dynatrace, New Relic, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Splunk).
- Strong programming/scripting skills (Java, Python, or similar) and database performance tuning expertise.
- Experience integrating performance testing into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps).
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- A leadership style that demonstrates authority, consistency, and inspires trust and confidence.
