Our international IT Hub in Sofia, Bulgaria, is growing, and we’re looking for talented individuals to join us in the Senior Data Engineer position. You’ll be part of an international team, working in a vibrant environment that encourages the exchange of knowledge and ideas both onsite and offsite.
Your Responsibilities:
• You will take a leading role in the development, design, and continuous enhancement of our central data platform and data products based on it, leveraging MS Azure technologies. This involves architecting scalable solutions that meet enterprise-level requirements and ensuring that platform and data products evolve in close accordance with business needs.
• Collaborate closely with customers to design, build, and extend robust data pipelines. Your role will be pivotal in transforming business requirements into technical specifications, ensuring seamless integration and delivery of data products.
• Data Management and Integration: You will oversee the collection, validation, processing, integration, and modeling of data from various sources. This includes implementing best practices for data quality and consistency, ensuring that data is reliable and ready for analysis.
• Operational Support and Performance Optimization: You ensure that the platform operates smoothly and efficiently. You proactively identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to enhance system responsiveness and reliability.
• Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages learning and professional growth. Your leadership will be crucial in driving team success and innovation.
• Optimize and Scale Big Data Solutions: Identify and resolve performance issues in big data systems, ensuring efficient processing and storage. Design and implement scalable data pipelines and architectures to handle increasing data volumes, while optimizing processes for improved speed and resource utilization.
• Collaboration and Communication: Utilize your strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, translating technical concepts into business-friendly language. Your ability to articulate complex ideas will be essential in driving stakeholder engagement and project success.
Your Profile:
• Bachelor’s degree in a data-related field
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on Databricks
• Deep expertise in Azure data services, including:
o Azure Data Factory
o Azure Synapse Analytics
o Azure Data Lake Storage
o Azure SQL Database
• Strong Python skills for data processing and automation
• Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing
• Proficiency in SQL
• Experience with big data technologies (Apache Spark, Hadoop)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks, Unity Catalog, and data quality practices
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration
• Ability to lead and mentor junior team members
