Role Purpose
The Release Manager focuses on the release lifecycle, ensuring software changes are packaged, tested, approved, and deployed smoothly. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the deployment of software releases across multiple environments, ensuring compliance with ITIL best practices and organizational standards. This role ensures smooth delivery of features, hotfixes, and emergency changes while minimizing risk and maintaining system stability. The Release Manager also serves as the primary facilitator for CAB and ECAB meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the end-to-end release process for all products from the EGTD platform as well as all configuration changes related to the UAT and production environment.
- Coordinate release planning, scheduling, and execution in alignment with cluster-based release windows.
- Ensure all releases meet readiness criteria, including risk assessment, rollback plans, stakeholder approvals and deployment activities (UAT and production).
- Facilitate CAB and ECAB (where applicable) meetings for standard and emergency changes, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
- Oversee post-release validation and release closure activities, including documentation reviews.
- Tracking release success metrics (success, rollbacks, defects etc.).
- Coordinate CAB meetings for standard and/or emergency releases and hotfixes, ensuring rapid yet controlled deployment.
- Support incident root cause analysis and ensures corrective actions are documented and communicated.
- Align Release Management with Incident Management activities with ITIL processes for Problem and Change Management.
- Facilitate adherence to ITIL-based Change Management principles.
- Maintain release documentation, including Release Plans, risk assessments, and approval records.
- Enforce compliance with regulatory and security requirements during release planning and execution.
- Track, analyze and where needed, implement new release performance metrics, and recommend optimizations for efficiency and risk reduction.
Requirements:
- Experience: Ideally in Release Management, Incident Management, or similar role within software delivery environments.
- Frameworks: Strong knowledge of ITIL principles, particularly Change and Incident Management.
- Tools: Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, CI/CD pipelines, and release automation tools.
- Technical Understanding: Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), release management and project management tools, familiarity with QA processes, and deployment strategies.
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and version control systems is a plus.
