The company has established a key Sofia technology team comprising Software Architects, Software Developers, QA Engineers, Project Managers, and Technical Support Specialists as part of its global expansion strategy.

We’re hiring a Senior Cloud Software Engineer at Merkle in Sofia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java (11+) and Spring Boot
- Build and optimise serverless components on AWS (Lambdas, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch)
- Integrate APIs and microservices within a modular architecture
- Ensure code quality through automated tests, code reviews, and performance optimisation
- Contribute to CI/CD processes using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Terraform (nice to have)
- Collaborate with architecture and QA teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and security
- Participate in agile ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives)
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in Java backend development
- Strong understanding of AWS serverless ecosystem (Lambda, IAM, SQS/SNS, CloudFormation)
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices, and asynchronous communication
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, and infrastructure-as-code principles
- Good knowledge of unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Git, Agile/Scrum, and standard development workflows
- English proficiency and ability to work with distributed international teams
Nice to Have:
- Experience with API Gateway, Cognito, or Kinesis
- Exposure to Node.js or Python for Lambda scripting
- Familiarity with Docker and container orchestration (ECS, EKS)
- Background in data-driven applications or integration-heavy platforms
